A great midnight surprise, I was greeted by the Northern Lights outside the airplane window as I left Alaska for the Lower 48.

I took a flight tour over the Harding Ice Field, almost 700 square miles of ice and snow. We flew up Bear Glacier, across to Aialik Glacier and back down Exit Glacier into Seward, AK. The most challenging part was figuring out what to photograph - there was such incredible beauty in every direction, editing was impossible.

See if you can spot the marmot and tiny hikers on the ice above. Exit Glacier, rapidly receding toward the Harding Ice Field in Seward, AK.

The beginning of the final chapter in Seward, Alaska. It's hard to go past these incredible creatures and beautiful places without suddenly realizing you may miss it all terribly very soon. How spoiled I had become to look at all this every day.
